It wasn't always pretty, but Washington State quarterback John Mateer helped his Cougars team grit out a double-overtime win over San Jose State on Friday night

With 26 seconds left, moments after the Spartans took the lead with a long touchdown pass, the Cougars covered 40 yards in just three plays to tie the game.

Dylan Paine scored on a 7-yard run in the second overtime, John Mateer ran it in on the mandatory two-point conversion and Washington State rallied last in a wild 54-52 victory over San Jose State.
