FactSet tracks 64 analyst ratings on the chip designer's stock. And 51 of them rate Nvidia a buy in that system -- the highest available grade, equivalent to a strong buy on most rating platforms. Nine more call Nvidia an overweight opportunity, and the last four have settled for a hold. None of the 64 financial firms are going below that level.

Plenty of AI stocks trade down from their recent peaks, and the Nasdaq Composite, the tech-heavy index, hit an intraday peak on July 11. The index is down 5.5% from that peak after a recent recovery. Similarly, the VanEck Semiconductor ETF, which is led by the chip stocks that are key in the AI rally, is down 18% from its peak on the same day.

And today, with prices of AI stocks still reaching well into the hundreds of dollars, the stock split wave isn't over. In fact, one stock in particular looks like an excellent candidate thanks to its solid growth in recent years, top share price performance, and long-term prospects.

Micron Technology stock is down over 40% from its year-to-high peak as analysts turn bearish toward the memory market.

While Nvidia is considered the top player in the AI chip market, it utilizes TSMC's foundries for its chip manufacturing. Nvidia was TSMC's second-largest customer last year, accounting for 11% of the Taiwan-based foundry giant's revenue. This may lead investors to believe that TSMC's fortunes are dependent on Nvidia's.

On Wednesday, the Federal Reserve trimmed interest rates aggressively and penciled in further rate cuts by the end of the year. It slashed the benchmark interest rate by a half-point to 4.75-5% for the first time since March 2020.
